Class Representatives Elected Using EVMs – a First for School Students

‘By voting we add our voice to the chorus that forms opinions and a basis for actions’.

Tagore International School,Vasant Vihar  conducted elections for the post of  Class Representative across Classes VI-XII on  24,April 2024 using electronic voting machines (EVMs) – definitely a first for most school students ! The initiative provided students with a firsthand experience of democratic processes. Using the EVMs created by science students and the Science faculty, student-voters  cast their votes electronically, exactly mirroring the procedures of actual elections. This hands-on approach not only familiarized them with technological advancements but also instilled a sense of responsibility and civic duty. Students actively engaged in campaigning, debates, and voting, simulating a real-world electoral environment. The process emphasized transparency, fairness, and the importance of informed decision-making. Such initiatives not only educate but also empower our students to participate meaningfully in democratic processes.
