Students of Classes IV and V explored the idea of how stories can inspire kindness and courage during a virtual author talk session with Oklahoma-based authors Preston Walls and Amy M. Le, the mother-son duo behind Bus Stop Buddies – The Showdown.
Towards this session, students participated in pre-reading activities such as predicting the story from the book cover and sharing personal anecdotes on the theme of ‘hurt and heal.’ These activities sparked curiosity and encouraged thoughtful reflections. During the session, the authors shared their writing journey, offering valuable insights and tips for budding writers. Students actively engaged with insightful questions, making the discussion lively and meaningful.
The learning continued beyond the session with post-reading activities, where students designed anti-bullying posters and contributed to a pledge wall, reinforcing the book’s message of empathy and resilience. This enriching experience not only deepened the students’ love for literature but also empowered them with important life lessons, leaving them eager for more literary adventures.
