Republic Day Celebrations at the Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan

On 26 January 2025, our students had the privilege of performing the Indian National Anthem and the Uzbek National Song at the Indian Embassy in Uzbekistan. Their moving rendition was met with much appreciation from dignitaries and guests, earning recognition across media platforms. Prominently featured on local news channels and social media, their performance highlighted the cultural ties between India and Uzbekistan and the bond established by our students. This was a proud moment, showcasing our students’ talent and commitment to global cultural understanding and exchange.

Global Connections: Ms Sonia Bhatia at International Congress in Uzbekistan

We are proud to share that Ms. Sonia Bhatia, HOD Hindi at Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, recently represented our school and India at the International Congress of Public Diplomats in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Ms. Bhatia had the honour of speaking during the International Seminar on “Creative Economy in the SCO Countries: Experience and Prospects for Mutual Cooperation” and the “Creative Startups” competition for talented students, organized by the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and the SCO Public Diplomacy Center.

The event gathered esteemed leaders from the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, international scientists, professors, foreign dignitaries, and bright students, providing a dynamic platform for collaboration and cultural exchange. Ms. Bhatia’s experience was enriched further by her role as an international observer for Uzbekistan’s parliamentary elections, expanding her perspective on global diplomacy. This inspiring journey opens new doors for Tagore International School in the realm of international education and cultural partnerships.

Celebrating Cultural Ties: Uzbekistan National Day

The Uzbekistan Embassy celebrated their National Day on 26 September 2024. Because of  Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar’s active participation in various initiatives with Uzbekistan, including the summer exchange program, the school was invited to join the celebration. Principal Ms. Jyotika Jakhar and Ms. Sonia Bhatia, Head of the Hindi Department, represented the school at the event.  They had the opportunity to meet Mr. Sadriddin Suyarov, the First Secretary, who also introduced them to the Ambassador His Excellency Sardor Rustambaev. The celebration was attended by numerous distinguished guests, including ambassadors from various countries and local dignitaries, providing an excellent platform to discuss potential collaborations between Uzbekistan and Tagore International School. 

Uzbekistan Unveiled – Creating Global Understanding

From 3 June to 16 June 2024, ten of our students embarked on an enriching educational tour to Uzbekistan. In Samarkand, they explored historical landmarks such as the Amir Temur Mausoleum and the Bibi Khanum Mosque. The journey continued to Bukhara, where they visited the Ark of Bukhara and the Samanid Mausoleum. In Tashkent, students engaged with the ‘Ibrat Farzandlari’ project and participated in team-building activities at a youth camp, including Uzbek dance classes, language lessons, hiking, and cultural shows.

A highlight was the closing ceremony on June 13, where students performed and received accolades for their discipline and intelligence. On June 14, they attended the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation ) conference, performed, and earned praise for their cultural exchange efforts. The final days included visits to Tashkent’s key sites and media appearances, culminating in performances and interviews on Uzbek TV.  Our  students were thrilled to  appear on the Uzbekistan National TV Channel. This significant moment was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of Mr. Meyerbek and Dr. Nilufar. The tour was a memorable cultural and educational experience for all.

Uzbekistan Meets India: A Cultural Exchange Webinar with Ms. Bhatia

Embarking on a cultural journey, Ms. Sonia Bhatia, Head of the Hindi Faculty, hosted an insightful webinar for students of International Relations at the School of Public Diplomacy (SCO) in Uzbekistan on February 9, 2024. Delving into the theme of “Embracing the Richness of Indian Civilization and Culture,” the hour-long session captivated the audience. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students enthusiastically posed a variety of questions. Ms. Bhatia’s profound insights and passionate delivery resonated well, marking another significant stride in fostering cultural collaboration with Uzbekistan. 

SCO Youth Art Exhibition in Uzbekistan Showcases Talents of TISVV Students

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is dedicated to fostering dialogue among the youth of its eight member countries, aiming to strengthen neighborly relations and mutual trust. Recently, SCO Uzbekistan hosted an art exhibition featuring works from students across all member nations. We are delighted to announce that ten paintings submitted by our students were chosen for display. These artworks, centered around the theme “The World Through the Eyes of Children,” were created by children aged 7 to 14. The selected pieces were by Garima Kundra, Manvith Arora, Jasmayra Arora, Navyasha Navjyoti, Yashwita Beelwal, Emma M. Khiangle, Avni Sikdar, Faith Rinhlui Chongthu, Ranvir Batra, and Megha Sood. Congratulations to all the talented participants!

Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, recognized for strengthening Indo-Uzbek Cultural Bonds

The SCO Public Diplomacy Center in Uzbekistan has recognized the notable contributions of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, in nurturing cultural and educational connections between India and Uzbekistan. Dr. Parul Tyagi, the Principal, and Ms. Sonia Bhatia, Head of Department, were honored with certificates for providing students with invaluable opportunities to interact with their peers in Uzbekistan. The school has been a pioneer in promoting cultural exchanges and educational collaboration with Uzbekistan, thereby fostering mutual understanding across different cultures.

Strengthening ties with Uzbekistan

A roundtable discussion was organized on 5 October 2023 commemorating the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Center for Public Diplomacy in Uzbekistan, the Tashkent University of Oriental Studies and students from Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar. The event was also graced by the Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of India to Uzbekistan, Mr. Manish Prabhat. 

Ms. Sonia Bhatia of TIS,VV addressed the assembled delegates and students, focusing on  the importance of teachings of the Mahatma in our lives. She also spoke about the contribution of the two great leaders, Gandhi and Shastri, in India’s Independence movement. 

The students of TIS VV put up a  splendid classical dance performance to the melodious tune of the choir. 

This was followed by speeches presented by Prof. Ulfaxton Mukhibova and Sherdor Pulatov, sharing insights on the life of Gandhiji and his ideologies. The students of the Tashkent State University presented a dance on a Hindi song. Additionally, they shared inspirational quotes relating to Gandhian ideology and a heartfelt poem about the same. 

Overall, it was a very enriching experience for both students from India and Uzbekistan and we look forward to more such fruitful collaborations in the future.
