Parliamentary Proceedings In TIS,VV

A Student Parliament was organized for the students of Classes XI and XII on 6 October  2023. This event aimed to provide students with an immersive experience of parliamentary proceedings, mirroring the Lok Sabha, the Lower House of India’s Parliament.

The event commenced with a simulation of the Lok Sabha’s Question Hour, a crucial part of parliamentary proceedings where Members of Parliament (MPs) ask questions on various government policies and issues. It not only fostered critical thinking and research skills among the participants (preparing well-structured questions and responses) it also allowed students to understand the importance of parliamentary accountability and the role of MPs in scrutinizing government actions.

The highlight of the Student Parliament was the discussion, debate, and voting on a bill titled ‘The Pre-Examination Coaching Centres Regulation Bill, 2023.’ This bill aimed to address several issues related to coaching centers, including their quality, affordability, and regulation. Several amendments were also proposed and discussed.

This unique Student Parliament provided a valuable learning experience for students. It allowed them to gain insights into the functioning of a parliamentary system and the intricacies of policymaking. The event encouraged students to think critically about real-world issues and consider their potential roles as responsible citizens.
