Winterlude: The Fun Fiesta

On 7 December 2024, our school organized Winterlude- a grand fete on the school grounds, which buzzed with excitement and activity. Students, parents, and teachers participated enthusiastically, making the event a resounding success. The fete offered a variety of attractions, including food stalls, games, rides, and a vibrant cultural program. The aroma of delicious snacks, the thrill of winning prizes and the laughter from game stalls filled the air. Students enjoyed the carnival rides and bought gifts, stationery and toys from different stalls. A live music performance added to the festive vibe, keeping the audience entertained. The soulful songs requested by the visitors and students escalated the excitement and joy. It was a celebration of community spirit, where bonds were strengthened and simple joys were cherished that left behind lasting memories, reminding us of the importance of coming together to celebrate life’s small pleasures.

Pathways to Pride: Promoting Inclusion at Tagore International School

On 29 November 2024, our students reaffirmed their dedication to greater inclusivity in  society by hosting Pathways to Pride: Creating LGBTQIA+ Support Systems in Schools in collaboration with The Naz Foundation (India) Trust. The event began with an inspiring presentation chronicling the Breaking Barriers campaign’s 11-year journey, highlighting milestones in creating safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals. A workshop led by The Naz Foundation delved into the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ students, the impact of bullying, and practical strategies for promoting mental well-being through empathy and understanding. Interactive activities, including an icebreaker and a Q&A session, provided participants with opportunities to explore concepts like inclusive language and support systems. A brainstorming session with counsellors resulted in actionable strategies for cultivating safe school environments. This impactful event left participants better equipped to create a compassionate and accepting community, reinforcing the school’s commitment to inclusion and equality.

Workshop on Child Protection for Support Staff

On 25 November 2024 the school organized a workshop on child protection under the POCSO Act for the entire support staff, to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students. Led by the Senior School Counselor, Ms. Komal Malik, the session focused on guidelines for maintaining transparency and upholding boundaries in interactions with children. The support staff  were educated on protocols such as avoiding secluded spaces, ensuring visibility, and respecting students’ privacy. Practical scenarios and video resources highlighted the importance of vigilance and reporting concerns to designated authorities. We pride ourselves on having very caring and reliable support staff, and this initiative further underscored the school’s dedication to safeguarding its students and ensuring the safety of every child within the campus.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities Championing Inclusion, Inspiring Change

Project Saksham of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2024. The day is commemorated to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities across the social spectrum.  The event was graced by Dr. Sanjay Chaturvedi, the Deputy Director of Education (District South West A), Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi. The audience witnessed a soulful rendition by visually impaired students and the play ‘Ehsaas’ by Team Awaam, the theatre society of the school.  As a symbol of empowerment and opportunity, Dr Sanjay Chaturvedi, Chief Guest of the day, presented cycles to the meritorious students. Through his closing address, Dr. Chaturvedi inspired the students to continue to work towards inclusion. 

 Promoting Inclusion: Visit to The Blind Bake Garden Café

On 27 November 2024, our students  visited The Blind Bake Garden Café in Hauz Khas as part of their We Care initiative and the Eyecan Project. Supported by the National Association for the Blind (NAB), this remarkable café provides culinary training and practical life skills to visually impaired individuals, fostering their independence and empowerment. Students observed the café’s seamless operations and learned about its innovative training model, which integrates technical tools like screen readers and braille devices, as well as digital literacy. They also explored Ujjwala, a handicrafts shop run by visually impaired artisans, and participated in discussions on empowering individuals through skills in healthcare and creative arts. Contributing to this mission, the students presented a website they have developed to offer calming techniques for visually impaired individuals. This visit inspired students to advocate for inclusion, accessibility, and mental well-being with renewed determination.

Lights, Camera, Empowerment: Young Minds Shine at Chinh International Kids Film Festival

From 8 to 10 November 2024, the Chinh International Kids Film Festival in Bhimtal, Uttarakhand, provided a vibrant platform for young participants to immerse themselves in film, art, and culture. Children from various age groups served as jurors, assessing an international lineup of films and experiencing the art of film critique firsthand. This unique opportunity allowed them to hone their analytical skills, understand diverse storytelling methods, and appreciate global perspectives in cinema. Beyond films, the festival included sightseeing tours of Bhimtal and Sattal, where children enjoyed Uttarakhand’s natural beauty, and an art competition, where they designed T-shirts for the 2025 festival edition. This multifaceted experience empowered their young voices, nurtured their creativity, and deepened their cultural awareness, making it an unforgettable learning journey.

Celebrating Japan Week

Folding Traditions, Inspiring Creativity: Inter-School Origami Competition As the culmination of our on-going Japan Week events, the school was transformed into a vibrant showcase of Japanese artistry with its Inter-School Origami Competition. On 14 November 2024, participants across Delhi-NCR took on the challenge of intricate paper-folding, exploring themes like ‘Nature’s Wonders,’ ‘Cherry Blossom Festival,’ ‘Dragon Boat Race,’ ‘Famous Monuments,’ and ‘Fantasy Anime.’ Schools from across Delhi-NCR showcased their creativity, precision, and cultural awareness through impressive origami displays. The esteemed judges included Mr. Takashi Kobayashi from the JapanEmbassy, Mr. Teruyuki Hoshina from Japan Foundation, and Mrs. Ogonuki, wife of the Japanese School Principal. The competition highlighted the participants’ skills, with top honours awarded to students and teachers from Delhi Public School, Dwarka, St. George’s School Alaknanda, Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar, Springdales Dhaula Kuan, Sardar Patel, The Mother’s International and other prestigious schools.  Bridging Cultures Through Play: Japan Week Sports Event As part of the ongoing Japan Week , a unique sports event was organized in the school on 13 November 2024, showcasing traditional games from both Japan and India. Five schools from Delhi NCR participated in the event, celebrating a fusion of cultural heritage and athletic spirit. Students competed in games like Japan’s Kimari, Daruma San Ga Koronda and Sumo Wrestling, and India’s Gulli Danda and Pithoo, each representing teamwork, skill, and tradition. The event allowed participants to explore the roots of these traditional games, connecting students to cultural history through sports. Congratulations to all the schools that took part in this friendly competition, including Indraprastha International School, Lotus Valley Gurugram, General Raj’s School, and TIS, EOK for their impressive performances in these distinctive games.  Takofest and Manga Saga – Japan Week Continues On 12 November 2024, senior school students celebrated Japanese culture through two engaging inter-House events: Takofest and Manga Saga. Takofest, an inter-House kite-making competition for Classes VI-VIII, drew inspiration from Japan’s traditional Takomatsuri. With the theme ‘Cultural Harmony,’ students crafted kites adorned with symbols, colors, and motifs from diverse traditions, symbolizing unity in diversity.  Meanwhile, the Manga Saga competition invited students from Classes IX-XII to create a manga story of up to 10 pages in just two days. This challenge gave students an opportunity to dive into the art of manga, honing their storytelling, design, and drawing skills while embracing a central aspect of modern Japanese heritage. Both events showcased students’ competitiveness, creativity and passion, bringing the vibrancy of Japanese culture into the school community. Manga Saga – Japan Week On 12 November 2024, senior school students celebrated Japanese culture through  an engaging inter-House event: Manga Saga. The Manga Saga competition invited students from Classes IX-XII to create a manga story of up to 10 pages in just two days. Tagore International School Revives Traditional Japanese and Indian Games 

Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, recently hosted a unique sports day as part of Japan Week, inviting schools across Delhi and NCR to participate in Japanese and Indian traditional games. From Daruma San Ga Koronda to Gulli Danda, the event was a celebration of heritage, teamwork, and skill. Students learned, competed, and connected through games that bridge generations and cultures. Thank you to all the participating schools for making this day memorable!

Character Portrayal (IX-XII)

The Character Portrayal competition was a thrilling event where each house had to represent a Marvel character. The energy was palpable as students embraced the challenge with creativity and enthusiasm. Each house brought a unique interpretation to the stage, reflecting their character’s iconic traits. The competition highlighted not just individual talent but also the collaborative effort within each house, as students worked together to craft compelling backstories and plots. Overall, it was a fantastic celebration of Marvel fandom and creativity. 

TakoFest: Kite Making (VI-VIII)

Takofest, an inter-House kite-making competition for Classes VI-VIII, drew inspiration from Japan’s traditional Takomatsuri.
