‘Books are a uniquely portable magic,’ said Stephen King, and at Tagore International school, Vasant Vihar we firmly believe that reading is the first step in the growth of a child’s mind. Book Week, organized from 8 May to 13 May 2023, was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr Parul Tyagi, who encouraged each student to explore these treasure houses of knowledge.
Various engaging activities related to books and reading were organized. Bookmark Making, Bookflix, and Pop Quiz were fun, hands-on activities for the middle school. Interviews with the budding in-house authors (Convo With Kaashvi and Author Talk With Abeer Bhardwaj) were lively and interactive. The students in the primary wing enjoyed a plethora of book related activities like Recollecting Favourite Stories, Let’s Create Our Own Story, Our Cultural Roots – Panchatantra Tales and My Comic Strip. An extensive book exhibition was also arranged in which students and parents could purchase books, selecting from different genres. The enjoyment intensified with the games available , such as Match the Author With their Books, Selfie Point for pictures with the caption Reading Gives You Wings and a Book Worm Tattoo corner.
Book Week included interactions with authors Ms. Sneha Shah and Mr. Kanav Agnihotri. A caricature workshop by well known cartoonist Mr. Ajit Narayan and an exciting storytelling session by Mr. Stephen Marazzi concluded the week of immersive reading and reflection, exploring the fascinating world of books.
