Students interact with CERN Physicist, Dr. Archana Sharma

The Physics Conclave at Shiv Nadar School, Gurugram was a rare opportunity where our students were able to interact with particle physicist Dr. Archana Sharma from CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. The CERN is a particle accelerator where the elemental structures of the universe are bombarded and studied. The talk was about “Unravelling the secrets behind our everyday experience” where Dr. Sharma talked about how sub-sub atomic particles and their interactions create something entirely different at the human scale. The students did a live virtual tour of the CERN particle accelerator muon detector directly from Switzerland. Dr. Jahanvi Phalke, Founder  Director of Science Gallery Bengaluru and  historian in science, also enlightened the students about  the history of scientific development and its role in Economics.
The Physics Conclave is a platform where Physicists, Researchers, Educators, and students come together to share ideas and explore the fascinating world of science in our daily lives. This year had an engaging theme: “Bridging the Gap: Particle Physics and its Relevance in our Everyday Lives.” The Conclave was a memorable experience;  an opportunity to gain insights, contribute to discussions, and explore the practical applications of particle physics in our society,  and certainly a unique learning experience  for the students.
