A Time Capsule For The Next Gen – Culmination Of Our Golden Jubilee

Tagore International School was established in 1972 with the aim of bringing quality education to the community at affordable charges. From these humble beginnings, the school has grown into a thriving community of learners, where students from all walks of life come together to pursue their dreams and aspirations. Through its unwavering commitment to excellence, Tagore International School has inspired generations of young minds to strive for greatness and reach for the stars.

We celebrated our Golden Jubilee (1972-2022) with a series of spectacular events. The year-long celebrations to mark this 50-year milestone were inaugurated in July 2022 with Yugantar – a splendid function graced by the eminent diplomat, scholar, author, and politician, Honourable Mr. Pavan Varma, and various other dignitaries, where a coffee table book and a video were released, accompanied by an exhibition of rare photographs from the school’s archives. In August, the solemnity of the Investiture Ceremony was enhanced by the presence of the previous Head Boys and Head Girls who had been specially invited to invest the Student Council with their badges of Office. In September, the Teachers Day celebrations were specially planned around the Golden Jubilee, with many ex-students and retired teachers joining us for the festivities. In December, the alumni were invited for a trip down memory lane with the excitement of ‘Return to Roots’. January saw the school hosting an evening of intense and soul stirring classical music with Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt and Pandit Sajan Mishra holding everyone enthralled.

The burial of a Time Capsule on 28 April 2023 was the culmination of all these events.  This capsule will be opened after a decade and undoubtedly bring the present day school alive for the students of the future. The objects that have been collated are intended to be symbols of school events, experiences, ideas and changes that are worth preserving as a record of where we stand today.

Ms Rupinder Kaur, former member of the Delhi Commission for Women and now associated with the Indian Cancer Society and Spicmacay, was the Chief Guest. Various members of TESA, Tagorean Ex-Students Association, reiterated their close ties with their alma mater by their presence.  Members of the staff and senior students were witnesses as the members of the Student Council lowered the Capsule into the ground. Younger students were excited to be able to watch the proceedings from their classrooms as it was live streamed on YouTube.

The school motto Aham Yogya Asmi (I am worthy ) has truly been upheld  in our quest for excellence. The Golden Jubilee celebrations served as a reminder to all of us at TIS,VV to continue to strive for excellence, embrace diversity and inclusivity, foster a culture of innovation and creativity, and make a positive impact on the world around us.
