Over the years “Lead On’ – a youth leadership summit for students from various schools – has become one of the signature events hosted by Tagore International School ,Vasant Vihar. This year there were representatives from over 40 schools from Delhi and NCR.
The Vice President of the student council, Siya Aneja, extended a warm welcome to the students saying that ‘Lead On’ aims to improve the communication skills of and instill confidence in these aspiring leaders. .
The event began with a creative ice breaker called ‘Convince Us’, which as explained by Student Moderator Jiya Chawla, would test the persuasive skills of the participants while also allowing them to display their wit and presence of mind.
This was followed by an engrossing speech by diplomat and former Ambassador Dr. Deepak Vohra. Holding the audience riveted by his oratory and sense of humour, he spoke of self confidence, self esteem and self reliance. He ended this inspirational talk with heart warming accounts of his experiences and his immense pride in serving his country.
After a game of ‘Know Your Cards’, which got participants into the friendly spirit of competition, the second guest speaker for the afternoon, Mr Gaurav Agarwal delivered another captivating speech. This co founder and chief technology officer of Tata 1mg had a very interactive and practical talk with the students sharing some of the tools necessary to find success as a leader.
The event ended with a game called Dealemma and an enthralling scavenger hunt. ‘Lead On’ was not only an interactive and enjoyable experience but an intensive learning experience for all participants, giving them the edge required to go out into the world equipped with some of the 21st century skills needed to be a success in today’s world.
